A Day at Sunbeams
Sunbeams Day Nurseries in Harrogate and Austhorpe open from 7:45am until 6pm Monday to Friday. Halton is open earlier at 7.30am. Sessional and part time places are available. There is a before and after school club and holiday club for school aged children.
- Full day includes breakfast, lunch and a light tea, as well as healthy snacks and water.
- Morning session includes breakfast and lunch.
- Afternoon session includes a light tea.
- For babies, home cooked pureed food and full fat cows milk provided (parents to provide nappies, breast / formula milk).
We are committed to ensuring that all children enjoy and benefit from attending our nurseries. Each nursery is structured to provide specific relaxation, play and teaching times - including our special outside classroom.
By providing a friendly, loving and stimulating environment we hope to develop little individuals with a positive image of themselves and others.
At Sunbeams we make sure every child has a home-from-home when they are away from the loving arms of their parents. A caring place with lots of cuddles and of course rest time when the baby or child needs it. Each child is allocated a key worker to ensure that all activities are geared to your child's needs from babies through to pre-school.
Our activities are carefully structured and delivered through play at all times. Our nurseries are organised into four different rooms, each catering for the needs of babies and children of different ages and development stages.
Babies: 3 months - 14 months
Infants: 14 months - 2 years
Toddlers: 2 years -3 years
Pre- school: 3 years – 5 Years
Out Of School Care: 5-12 yrs (held within schools)
Activities for Children
As we’ve said each child is very different - some want to engage in structured activities, others prefer to explore in their own way, most like to do both!
Your child will be able to engage in activities depending on their interests but will follow basics in reading writing, literacy and numeracy, all are focused on learning through play.
Every Sunbeams' nursery offers secure outdoor play areas that young children can enjoy all year round. Children are encouraged to access these whenever they wish, supervised by our staff. The garden areas have a large soft all weather play surface, areas for relaxation, planting, imaginative play, plus supervised sand and water play.

Menu Plan
At no other time in your life is the adage ‘You are what you eat’ more important than when you’re under five years old.
That’s when your body undergoes the biggest changes and the most rapid periods of growth. The body is still developing and it is here that attitudes to food are built which stay with you for life.
That is why we make sure mealtimes are happy times. Children are encouraged to get involved in preparing food and children and staff sit down together.
Vegetarian meals and special diets are no problem and if your child has a food allergy or intolerance, we’ll accommodate it. All cultural and religious needs are taken into consideration.
Home cooked food is prepared fresh every day in our fully equipped catering kitchens, by qualified and experienced cooks. The menu is designed and monitored by a nutritionist, meals are low in saturated fat, high in fibre and free from additives.
